spot on

hehe, just realised, i think i'm giving all ur tunes exactly the same ratings. so, let me examine why...

originality - i think a 10 is almost unreachable, simply because i will always recognise elements of other music in tunes, is not a bad thing.
diversity - hmm, dunno why i give 8, maybe i'm being a bit unfair. maybe it's because ur tunes flow so well that they don't seem to be massively diverse although the mixture of styles within a piece should maybe be considered more by me.
clarity - 10 every time because i am jellyous about how well everything sits in ur mix. this is 1 aspect of my music i have a constant battle with. i think i need to take a course in mastering or read a book or summin.
effort - i dunno how long it takes u to make these gems but i'm guessing u don't have to try too hard. and also maybe it will encourage u to try harder:)
overall - straight 10's? coz i love all the stuff i've heard so far by u, gonna take a brake now and listen to some more another day, i'm hungry.

Hey, thanks for another encouraging review mate, I'm flattered you think my mixing is up to scratch, and believe me, its a constant battle for me too!

Well, you've given me some very good 'food for thought' here..
geddit??!!

later man :)

trippy chillax

production is super sweet as i've come to expect from u. really nice mood to this. drums are spot on, just enuf variations and tweakage to keep it rolling along. the vox sound awesome. love the off key synth that comes in towards the end, grimy, yet fluffy. ooh, nice glitch work there, omg, another fade out, lol, my pet hate:) still gets a 5 tho

dj-padman1 responds:

yo man, thanks for another review! don't get too exhausted over there..you should be cranking out some more of your brand of musical goodness!
I appreciate it heaps though mate, thanks for the review. Yarrgh :) the fadeout..I'm working on that part of my production...I really am!

squelchtastic

dark and demented overtones here, i like. can't get enuff of the acidic bass synth, haven't used one for ages, i think u've inspired me tho:) erm, what don't i like about it?... hmm maybe just the fadeout at the end.
;ped

dj-padman1 responds:

Squelchiness is the breakers food of choice. I need you to break out the acid, you can program some really Aphexy riffs, I remember!
yeah, I promise I'll try and cut back on the fadeouts, its me being lazy...! ;P

lets have some LJ acid you c%@ts

one word - slick as fook.
i think everythings already been said that needs to be. erm, yeh i wanna give u some constructive crit but alas, i can think of anything... too short? dunno. oh and also, as it opens out at about 1:40, my lightbulb blew, i'm now sitting in the dark. thanks a lot.

;ped

p.s. u should have put this up for the MAC, u could have had a groovy sig:/

LJCoffee responds:

Ped, sorry about that light bulb.

You're one of the handful of people who I would definitely take advice and criticism from - there are many people here that might have something to say but who really don't know what the hell they're talking about or who just don't "get it".

You on the other hand as well as a few choice others are talented enough to tell me or anyone else here what's good and what's complete shite.

Thanks mate!

MY CAPS LOCK KEY WORKS PERFECTLY

good alrounder this, pretty well mixed. hehe, the synths are pretty much spot on for computer game music but i haven't heard the original (is there an original?), however, with reason at ur disposal u could have made more of this i feel. a little automation on the synths, filter sweeps and stuff, will go a long way and will make this track more ur own. without being a patronising cock check out my rendition of bubbleman i did a couple of years ago on reason to see what i mean:)

tedJohnston responds:

Thanks for the review. This is an original melody that I composed. I'm sure there were a lot of extra things I could've put in there, but since this was an original video game tune, I wanted to keep the song sounding as close to something you would actually hear playing behind you in a game. I'll keep your suggestions in mind if I ever remix the tune in the future.

is it really grim up north:P

can't argue with that:) i like the hat line, would have liked to hear a little variation with the drums tho. good choice of sounds here, the guitar comes in well nice. good build up throughout the track. i hoe this does well in the comp, it deserves to.
;ped

pitbulljones responds:

how do ped'? As i write this it is actually really grim up north, it's pissing it down and it's grey and really shit. :(

well thats one against the hat and one for. the drums were done in FL and it is a 16 bar loop i did, i aint a massive fan of making drums, plus i'm lazy when it comes to em but they did the job i feel. all the sounds barring the guitar were from my vst synths, the opening one was the korg legacy cell, the bass was from Rhino as was the strings and the ambience was from crystal. plus theres two guitars playin on either channel, the very clear single note with delay and also a reversed chroused chord thats subtle but effective. I'm thrilled you enjoyed the track and thanks for the vote of confidence. i'll bob by soon and give you some reviews.

cat-bastards responds:

Thanks for the 0 in Effort. At least we got one good score with that! The rest doesn't matter! >:(

warp me up

good stuff, another warp bod on NG. sounding slick, the synth at the start sounds well like squarepoooosher and one of the kits later on the same. gotta love it, nice acidy synth work.
game on for MAC:)
;ped

dj-padman1 responds:

Warp is where its at, for sure!
thanks for the squarepusher comparison...aww, shucks...
I really feel the urge to make an acid track like Aphex Twin from the druqks album..I dont know how the hell he gets those sounds! Some of yours sound exactly like it though, I'm jealous....

'you sure make me feel like lovin u...'

nice work:) for what it is, it is very good, unfortunately it just ain't my bag, don't like the beat sorry:/ the synth work the whole way through is awesome tho. would like to hear some variations with the bassline also.
sorry for being a c*@t
;ped

AdmiralConquistador responds:

You're no cunt, you're PedroMancuso!

Hehe, Glad you liked it, I agree changes in the bassline would have been nice, but whatever, it's more minimalist than anything, simple and sweet. Thanks for the review man!

erm...

...yeh, sounds awesome, can't fault that... but i'm gonna find summin:P The only thing that struck me was that it could do with a bit more melodic content - towards the end when it opens up it begs for like a little synth work or some distant trumpets or summin. if this is ur comp entry, we're all in trouble! LJC is still not back from vacation so i can't submit mine yet. dang. come home Larry!!!
keep it up,
;ped

Rucklo responds:

Hmm yeah, perhaps there should have been a synth-solo or some shit like that... or a WAAH WAAH guitar or something... hmmmm (starts thinking)

Thanx for the feedback man :D
